Colours

5 pieces for piano

duration ~ 7:30 minutes

Written between 2003 and 2024, these conceptual miniatures were conceived as small-scale soundscapes that interpret the experience of colour through sound. Just as Josef Albers demonstrated the significance of context for the sensory experience of colour, and showed how colours could be warm or electric, these pieces are inspired by the different approaches to piano performance, where each pianist will play and interpret the music differently, adjusting the hue for listeners and opening an emotional window to experience how colours may sound.

A recording of this work is available on the album Before the World Sleeps (ASA Records - ASA05)
